GES Recognized by Maryland Green Registry

GES Recognized Maryland Green Registry Member

Businesses, local governments, schools, colleges, and universities across Maryland are taking voluntary measures that protect the quality of air, water, and land, including energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction, to reduce impacts on the environment while also improving the efficiency of operations. Joining this group, the GES Odenton, Maryland office recently became one of the organizations to be recognized by the Maryland Green Registry.

The Maryland Green Registry was launched in 2009 by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) to promote and recognize sustainable practices by organizations throughout the state. The program offers tips and resources to help companies set and meet their own goals on the path to sustainability. There are currently more than 550 organizations.

GES Achieved Recognition For:

  • Energy Efficiency: GES has purchased programmable thermostats for the office and has scheduled on/off times to when staff are in the office Monday through Friday. Temperatures are set for energy efficiency during evenings, overnights, and weekends.
  • Efficient Fleet Vehicles: GES purchases Ford Eco Boost vehicles to increase fuel efficiency in fleet vehicles.
  • Waste Recycling: GES participates in and supports company-wide and community recycling efforts. As of March 5, 2020, the GES Maryland office alone had recycled 4,000 K-Cups, which is approximately 150 lbs.

These are some of the many steps GES will continue to undertake to support our corporate sustainability policy and objectives in 2020 and achieve our goal of becoming a more sustainable company. Thanks to Donna Marple and Steve Slatnick for their help in completing our application.
