1440 Minutes
Minutes in a day. 1440. That’s how much time you have every day. You’ve likely heard this number applied to time management and productivity. Those concepts express the limitations of time and the importance of what you choose to do with each minute; they do not describe the Quality of how you use your minutes. If “anything worth doing is worth doing right,” then the Quality of each minute is important. Here are some possible definitions of Quality for common activities.
Broadly, Quality is conformance with specifications. For each of your 1440 minutes, you have to determine what are the “specifications” for that minute, and consider what “conformance with specifications” means for an activity. Doing something with Quality in mind can increase not only your satisfaction with how you spent that minute, but also that of family, friends, and colleagues included in your 1440.
