James Claffey, PhD, PE Joins GES' Business Development Team

James Claffey, PhD, PE (Jim) is a proven sales and technical leader with over 30 years of experience working in the environmental consulting and engineering industry. Before transitioning to sales, he provided project management, technical support investigations and system implementation. Jim’s site investigation and remediation expertise applies to traditional and emerging contaminants in multimedia environments, including chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water, wastewater, groundwater, biosolids, landfill leachate and other media. His depth of technical and regulatory knowledge has equipped him to sell GES’ services to new and existing clients. 

Jim also has a record of building strong long-lasting client relationships. He has worked with client environmental managers, client senior management, internal and external counsel, regulators, and a multitude of third-party stakeholders. He understands their needs and preferences and builds well-rounded effective teams that successfully deliver projects and solutions to clients. Throughout his career, he has applied his knowledge and skills to help clients navigate regulatory and industry change while guiding and mentoring coworkers along their career paths. He also has a passion for innovation in our industry.
Jim has a B.S., M.S., and PhD in chemical engineering from Rutgers University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Georgia, Florida, and Missouri. He resides in northern New Jersey and will be based out of the Wall Township, NJ headquarters. 

As an environmental consultant for over 30 years, Jim’s clients have included BASF, General Dynamics, Owens Corning, PRP Groups, and municipalities. In his new business development role at GES, Jim will help clients determine the best approach to eliminate their environmental risks and liabilities.
