Breaking Barriers: FAA’s Proposed Part 108 BVLOS Rule Released

The proposed FAA Part 108 rule aims to create a standardized regulatory framework for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations, which are currently restricted and require a lengthy waiver process. By establishing clear guidelines, Part 108 will enable a wide range of commercial applications, such as large-scale package delivery, long-range infrastructure inspections (e.g., pipelines and power lines), and agricultural surveying of vast fields. It will also streamline the approval process, allowing for faster and more scalable operations. This will ultimately reduce costs and encourage a more rapid advancement of drone technology in the U.S.
