GES Receives 2023 EBJ Business Achievement Award
The Environmental Business Journal®(EBJ), a business research publication which provides high value strategic business intelligence to the environmental industry, honored Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) with a 2023 EBJ Technical Merit Award for our Unmanned Aerial Systems for expanding its sUAS services in 2023 targeting natural gas and petroleum pipeline right-of-way (ROW), and abandoned and orphaned oil and gas (AOOG) well services. EBJ also requested that GES contribute to a special executive review issue that included articles, company profiles, and technical business interviews.
Rich Evans, Vince Passaro, and Scott Andresini participated in an interview in the issue (see attached), which provided additional promotion for our drone service capabilities.
GES' President/COO, Ed Van Woudenberg accepted GES’ award at the EBJ Business Achievement Awards banquet at the Environmental Industry Summit XXII on April 2-4, 2024 in San Diego. A brief summary of the award submittal is provided below
TECHNOLOGY MERIT: Unmanned Aerial Systems
GES expanded its small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) services in 2023 targeting natural gas and petroleum pipeline right-of-way (ROW) and abandoned and orphaned oil and gas (AOOG ) well services. GES also expanded its service offerings for magnetometry and methane monitoring for visual line of sight (VLOS) missions. The company successfully located abandoned wells in 2023, including one beneath 6 feet of soil cover using the Geometrics MagArrow. To further support natural gas and petroleum pipeline clients, GES added the capability to conduct real-time methane monitoring from a drone-based optical gas imaging (OGI) camera and conducted its first-ROW methane monitoring project in 2023. During 2023, GES also significantly advanced its capabilities for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) by obtaining a non-geographically constrained FAA waiver, which allows GES to conduct BVLOS missions without submitting a specific waiver request as long as the flight area meets certain conditions (e.g., population density and road crossings). This accelerates GES’s ability to conduct ROW monitoring flights for clients.
